Extremely variable looking toad ranging from 1.75-2.5 inches in length in Louisiana. Most easily recognized by high cranial crests with knoblike enlargements at the posterior ends of the interorbital crests. Faint mid-dorsal line is present in some specimens. Calls from mid-February to mid-August. Voice is a cheery musical trill. Females lay gelatinous strings of eggs in shallow, unmoving pools of water. Inhabits similar habitats as B. americanus and occurs in the Florida Parishes.
