E-mail: john_mccoy@usgs.gov

John W. McCoy, M.S. 1981. Biology, Northeast Louisiana University, Monroe (now University of Louisiana at Monroe). Natural invasion and bottomland hardwood restoration, chemical analysis of plant tissues.

McCoy's research interests are in natural invasion of woody and herbaceous plants onto fallow agricultural fields. He also studies plant fruit and seed chemical and physical makeup and its effect on bottomland hardwood reforestation. Another area of interest is in Atlantic white-cedar survival and growth in the Gulf of Mexico region.

McCoy has also performed an Environmental Assessment Survey of the Vegetation Surrounding a Lower Wilcox Group Coal Gas Well Site.
